NAKHEEL BACK ON BOARD TO LEND THEIR SUPPORT FOR DUBAI RACING CARNIVAL Jan 10, 2024

Meydan Racecourse stages its sixth meeting of an enthralling Carnival on Friday as world renown master developer Nakheel sponsor an exciting evening of action. There are twin feature races on a bumper ninerace card; the Al Wasl Stakes and the Lord North Handicap, both worth AED300,000. The Al Wasl Stakes, run over 1200m on turf, was won last year by the Saeed bin Suroortrained Wild Place. The Lord North Handicap, named after the only three-time winner of the Group 1 Dubai Turf, takes place over 1800m on turf, the same distance as that race. Nakheel, responsible for many of Dubai’s best-known locations, including Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali and Dubai Islands, lends its name to all races on the card at Dubai’s flagship Racecourse, home to the Dubai World Cup. Based in Dubai since its inception, Nakheel’s master developments have added more than 300 kilometres to Dubai’s original, 70km coastline, creating resorts, homes, and visitor attractions.

INNOVATION KEY TO SUCCESS

Nakheel’s innovative landmark projects span more than 15,000 hectares and accommodate more than 700,000 people, helping to shape Dubai as it is today. Mr Omar Khoory, Chief Assets Officer, Nakheel said: “Through its continued sponsorship of the Dubai Racing Carnival, Nakheel reaffirms its commitment to curating and bringing the best possible experiences to Dubai. We are looking forward to an exciting and eventful racing season and wish all the participants the best of luck.”

Major General Dr. Mohammed Essa Al Adhab, Executive Director of Dubai Racing Club, said: “We are delighted to have Nakheel with us for this exciting evening of international racing at Meydan Racecourse. They have been huge supporters of racing in Dubai and we appreciate their backing. Their developments are iconic and have helped to position Dubai as the leading destination it is today. “We hope the Nakheel team and their guests enjoy the action and entertainment both on and off the track.” Friday evening’s action features horses preparing for the 28th running of the Dubai World Cup meeting, which is worth $30.5million and takes place on March 30. Racing begins at 5:30pm.
